Man held under Digital Security Act over Facebook post against ‘lockdown’

Police arrested a man in Bandarban town early today in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for allegedly posting an “anti-lockdown” status on Facebook.

The arrestee is Md Jihad, 30, a resident of stadium area of Bandarban town, said Md Sohag Rana, inspector (investigation) of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

“Jihad was arrested from his house around 3:00am today two hours after sub inspector Md Aminur of the police station filed the case against him”, our Bandarban correspondent reports quoting the police official.

“The case was filed as Jihad posted different anti-state statuses, including ‘anti-lockdown’, on his Facebook at different times,” added the inspector.
