A 19-rear-old was arrested in Joypurhat’s Kalai upazila yesterday in a case filed under the Digital Security Act over a derogatory Facebook comment about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The arrestee is Md Abdullah, 19, son of Abdul Alim, resident of Biala Moddhopara village under the upazila, reports our Bogura correspondent quoting Salim Malike, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalai Police Station.
Abdullah is a student of Shahargachi Adorsho Degree College.
Tofiqul Islam Touhid, convener of Kalai upazila unit Chhatra League and also a councillor of Kalai municipality filed the case against Abdullah with the police station yesterday afternoon.
Following the filing of the case, police arrested him from Matrai Bazar area, said the OC.
According to the case statement, Abdullah made a derogatory comment about the PM under a Facebook post.
The accused will be produced before a court today, added the OC.
