Police arrested two men under Digital Security Act (DSA) in Bandarban over their posts on Facebook.

The arrestees were identified as Oli Ahmed, 30, and Hamidur Rahman, 29 of Naikhongchhari upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting Mohammed Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Naikhongchhari Police Station.

Oli Ahmed was arrested around 2am while Hamidur Rahman was arrested around 9am today, said the OC.

“Both are accused of spreading anti-state propaganda on social media and making defamatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi,” said the OC.

“Hamidur is a supporter of Hefajat-e-Islam and Oli is a Shibir activist,” the OC claimed.

On Saturday, police arrested another man in Bandarban town in a case filed under DSA for allegedly posting an “anti-lockdown” status on Facebook.

A young man in Khagrachhari landed in jail on Sunday in a case under DSA over his Facebook comments.
