The mayor of Rangpur city corporation (RCC) has sued a TV journalist in the district under Digital Security Act (DSA) for remarks against him on social media.

Mostafizar Rahman, the mayor of RCC, filed the case under DSA with Kotwali Police station last night accusing Ratan Sarkar, a correspondent of Somoy Television, a private television channel in the country.

The case was filed under section of 25(2), 29(1), and 31 (1 and 2), Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter.

Two days ago, Ratan Sarkar posted a status on his Facebook page bringing some allegations against the RCC mayor.

This correspondent tried to reach Ratan Sarkar for his comment but his mobile phone was found switched off.

In the case, the mayor alleged that Ratan Sarkar posted the status on his Facebook page against him to interrupt the continuous development of RCC, the OC said.
